The Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) has completed the first phase of the recruitment process for the post of Assistant Teacher (Revenue), and candidates are eagerly waiting for the Primary School Teacher Exam Date 2026. With more than 7.45 lakh applications submitted for just 10,219 vacancies, the competition is extremely high this year. According to DPE officials, the written exam for the first phase is likely to be held in January 2026.

The government primary school ‘Assistant Teacher’ job exam will be held in on 24^th November (Friday) 2025. Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has already taken the overall preparation for the written test. This exam will be done by MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) system. Apart from this, viva examination will be completed within next two months.

Meanwhile, according to the Primary Education Department (DPE) sources, the number of candidates filed for the appointment of Assistant Teachers in the Government Primary School in the year 2026 has been filed. More than 2.4 million applications have been submitted online from 1^st August (Wednesday) 2025 to 30^th August (Thursday) 2025 in last year.

In this process, more than 2.4 million job seekers were applied for the designation of “Assistant Teacher” recruitment examinations in primary schools. Applied candidate will sit in this job exam process against 12 thousand seats across the country.

DPE Exam Date 2025

The Directorate of Primary Education has indicated a possible timeline for holding the recruitment exam. After verifying all 7.45 lakh applications, the authorities aim to hold the written test in January 2026.

Although the exact date has not yet been announced, DPE has confirmed:

• Admit cards will be issued after scrutiny is completed.

• Candidates will receive an SMS with the exam date and download link.

• Admit cards will be available on: http://dpe.teletalk.com.bd.

Why January 2026?

DPE follows a recruitment calendar that ensures exams take place at the beginning of the year. Verification of applicants usually takes 3–4 weeks after the application deadline. Since the first phase application ended on 21 November 2025, January 2026 is the most likely exam window.

According to the sources, after the written examination, more than 10 thousand teachers will be recruited in many government primary schools. It is known that around 64 thousand 820 government primary schools are located in the whole country. There are about 12,000 assistant teachers will in it.

New Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules 2025

To make the recruitment process more transparent and updated, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education published the “Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules, 2025” on November 2, 2025.

Here are the major highlights:

New Age Limit: 32 Years

The maximum age for direct recruitment is now:

• General candidates: 32 years

• Age counted from the date of circular publication

This is a significant change from the previous 30-year age limit.

Education Qualification Updated

To ensure quality teaching, educational requirements have been revised:

• Must have a Bachelor’s (Honours) Degree

• Must have Second Class or equivalent CGPA

• Third Division or Third Class at any stage is not accepted

This ensures students get better-qualified teachers.

Head Teacher Promotion New Rules

Changes have also been made for Head Teacher posts:

• 80% seats will be filled through promotion

• Candidate must have 12 years of experience as an Assistant Teacher

• 20% seats will be filled through direct recruitment

This creates a clear promotional pathway for those who join as Assistant Teachers.

Three students (one male and two women) will be selected in the written examination. The final result will be released after oral examination. Total Applied Candidates of Primary Assistant schools Teacher are 24, 00,005.

The officers of DPE said that about 12 lakhs candidates applied for the last recruitment. The number of candidates applying this as such is double the number. The number of exam centers across the country was 3,662 in the last recruitment. Now the number of exam centers has been increased due to being twice candidate.

Primary Assistant Teacher Job Question

More than 20 sets of questions could be made by the Ministry to take the test thoroughly.

A source from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said that the DPE led the examinations with the preparation of questions. But the ministry will fix the questioning and seat formation to bring more inflexibility to prevent question papers and conduct a fair trial.

The question paper will be formulated for the job examination in digital system. The decision has been taken after meeting with the BUET on the schedule of the exam schedule, the OMR form design and evaluation, the results of the publication of the results. Examinations will be done in both the written and oral two levels as before. According to the previous rules, the written test of the MCQ system will be 80 and the viva number will be 20.
